momentous valentine

at 9am-ish of the 14th February 2011, I stepped out of my hotel room to head for my breakfast before kicking off the day with meetings and final previews with client. along the hallway, I was greeted by this young chap and our conversation ended with a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ wish from him. then all of a sudden, it just hit me that it was the V-day which I totally forgot. perhaps I didn’t bother to remember becoz it wasn’t that significant to me.

seeing the lobby and buffet area was well decorated with pinks and loves and a 2-door Lexus with white and purple ribbon was parked right in front of the hotel entrance. indeed, love was in the air… everywhere...

after a fulfilling breakfast, I decided to go for a walk-thru at the ballroom just to make sure everything was working as planned. after a few ticked off the checklist, I headed back to my room to prepare for 1pm meeting at client’s office.

when I entered my room, I was surprised to see a stalk of rose with a note written ‘dear ms Jamie, hope you have the best valentine here with us in Ritz Carlton.’ it did definitely cheer me up on a stressful day. at least for a single lady (yes, I that's me) who hasn’t receive rose on a valentine’s day for years.

that rose didn’t keep me long in my fantasy land, I jumped into work right after until 12pm and departed for the meeting. it was undeniably a long winded meeting, from going through the to do checklist to drilling into nitty gritty details of the event. the meeting finally ended at 5pm-ish. thank God.... or should it be oh my God?

do you know what does it mean by 5pm at Jakarta on a Monday? dreadful traffic! my 2 guys’ colleagues and I was waiting at the office lobby to get a cab. we waited for about half an hour but couldn’t get any cab. then came the MD from behind greeting us and we were complaining to him bout the horrible traffic and that we’d been waiting for the past half an hour but no cab available. the gentleman MD offered to fetch us back since he’ll be checking into the same hotel as us to prepare for tomorrow rehearsal. but with a condition that he can only fetch one person. being the only girl in my team, I was given the privilege to get the free ride back to the hotel.

while waiting for his driver to send his car to the lobby entrance, I was thinking to myself why only fetch one person? most probably a 2-door BMW or Mercedes. I was nervous for sure as this is my 1st time working with this MD and I do not want to screw up the previous good working relationship with something stupid from me. as I waited nervously, I heard a roar. a roar that I thought it sounded fimilar but I just couldn’t recall what is that. then I saw….. (be prepared for this!)

a black FERRARI! a freaking FERRARI! read my lips….. a FER-RA-RI!

the driver came out and the MD walked towards the car. my colleagues and I was stunned. so stunned that I think we looked so stupid. and yes, I got a free ride on a freaking Ferrari with a MD. it was definitely a slow (due to the traffic) and awkward (the nervous + shocked feeling) ride but it was definitely my once in a lifetime moment.

I was bragging and bragging with my friends and colleagues once I reached the hotel. I just couldn’t believe that I had the ride of my life. even now, I am still in a slight state of shock every time thinking back of that particular moment of the ride.

well, although I didn’t have that special one to celebrate valentine with me or having someone to ask me to be their valentine... but this is no doubt my best valentine of all. given the chance to ride on my dream car… and I really do literally mean dream :P

plan A in execution!!!

I had just updated my ‘my travelogue…. (part III)’ post and if you could still remember that I talked about this ‘Plan A’.

alrite, plan A didn’t go as smooth as we planned. started with some pulled out then the thought of just drop the whole idea. but was revived back by some desperado (yeah, I have to admit the desperado here is me :P) then clashed of interest as planning comes along. what the heck….

last weekend, Kent found some kinda treasure. oh well, not really a treasure that we were hoping for… but who doesn’t fall for a treasure that is presented right on your face???

yeah, I meant dirt cheap airfare… so despite of all the obstacles that disappointed us, we had decided to just do it again. this is the year … the year of 2011… hitting my big three-o soon… here I come….

date: 30th Apr to 21st May
venue: Europe (highlight will be Santorini!!!)
participants: me, Kent, Ryan & Karen

Kent, work your magic on the chindian ok… then it won’t be down to just you and me anymore, it shall be fun if they can really join us. as for myself, I am really on ecstasy that I can finally do what I’ve been hoping for… it’s just 3 months for me to countdown to… hooray!!!

carpe diem

it has almost become a habit to play this beautiful song right at the moment my eyes are wide open every blissful sunday.

lazing on the bed with the quilt comfortably cuddling my body, I just couldn't resist having this beautiful song on a continuous loop.

letting this beautiful rhythm mesmerizing my mind is like the best potion to wash away all the stress accumulated.

every time singing along its’ beautiful lyrics reminds me of a phrase, a simple yet powerful phrase.

carpe diem... life is short, seize the day!

well... live high, live mighty, live righteously, takin' it easy... and enjoy this beautiful song...

goodbye 2010… hello 2011!!!

it’s a wrap…. for 2010. definitely wasn’t one of the best year for me. to summarise, it had been a year of worked hard and played least. sucks big time! last year this time, I was in Singapore accompanied by colleagues and friends that made me feel good being away from home on such a significant day. but this year, I am so glad and blessed to be home with family and friends. this is undeniably a better way to kickstart another new year compare to last year. so here I am now to bid farewell to 2010 and hope for a better 2011.

nothing better than having new year eve dinner with the buddies. besides the slight hiccup on the reservation, it all went on smooth… as smooth as Dr Loosen down the throat (no siap siap hahaha…). with a buffet spread of meats, half dozen of wines, simple desserts, DJ spinning the music and counting down to a new year, I would say it was a crazily great nite. it was so crazy that we did the YMCA dance… I know, it’s so O-M-G rite… well, it must be the side effect of the non-stop wine sipping. and the side effect was so strong that it got my head and my heart pounding at a syncing beat while on the way home. thanks mr Chong-Ling for all the champagne and wines... oppss, I mean Mr Chong and Mr Ling :P

noon was spent with Shearwell and DinDin. first time celebrating new year with the ladies. it was fun preparing lunch with the two experts, feels like being the spoil brat giving not a helping hand but a big trouble hahaha… sorry for the burnt garlic, spilled cheese and not well blended mushroom :P I sure knew I will create a mess so the best way to say sorry is to bring a tub of BR rum and raisins hahaha… hope we can celebrate every new year together in the years to come.

as most of the gang had our own plan for the new year eve, we all decided to celebrate the new year tonite. Kelvino did a great job in getting an exceptional venue to celebrate. he got us a recording studio… alrite, it was very kind of Mark for borrowing us his workplace to turn into our playground. the guys were jamming some ‘real’ music and some of us were singing our heart out. since it is a sound proof recording studio, we didn’t have to worry if we caused any disturbance to the neighbouring bungalows with our wicked music. with Nic’s signature homemade pizzas and finger foods, my contribution of brownies, Mark’s generosity in free flow liquor and JE’s finger-licking-good chicken wings, the ‘recording’ went on and on with so many hilarious music produced.

all in all, it is no doubt the best new year celebration I ever had… from the YMCA dance to the kitchen booboo to the music production. and I’m so happy to say that it will never be this much of fun if it wasn’t with you all celebrating the great new year with me. hope 2011 will bring so much more great happenings for all of us… cheers and happy new year!!!
